Valentine's day dinner 2008 occured at Carnivore: Brazilian Churrascaria @ Vivocity
very interesting concept, buffet style but you dun get to pick up your own food.
8 kinds of meat are served (that's why the name carnivore)
including beef steak, lamb, pork, chicken, bacon, sausauge, fish, ham..
there's a salad bar that has all the vegetables you never heard before..
the chef will come around to your table and offer you the different kind of meat..
if you want it, they will whip out their knife and cut it from a whole chunk of meat onto your plate..
dinner was hectic because in no more than 15 minutes there will be at least 3 kinds of meat on your platter and there is still more to come.
apparently, there's this chip on the table that you can flip to "Yes, Please!" or "No, Thanks!" to inform the chef if you wish to have more meat served to you..
but the thing is they dun bother to look at the chip, they just keep serving you..
the ambience of the restaurant was very nice, with lots of ang mohs...
the waiters are very friendly and they can even sing along to the music in the resturant..
so it was nice and warm..
personally, i prefer the beef steak and the lamb, cos it is grilled tenderly and the taste is special..
the chicken and the ham are kind of normal...

so this is the front of the restaurant...

dear and I ordered this drink.. the name is Guarana.. it is a soft drink that is processed from Brazil's wild berries.. tastes very much like F&N zappel.. but I dun recommend you to order it.. cos it costs a freakin' $8.00 for a can.. the retail price I found online is only USD 0.85!!!!!! MAD LOR!!! come on it's just a can of soft drinks loh.. we feel damn cheated and heart-pain.. but it was damn funnie too..

the setting of the table comes with this plate of stuff.. some pickled vegetables, grounded peanuts and 2 butter cookies.. lol weird..

over the lunar new year..
i nearly died..
i mean it..

fell very very sick..
had high fever until 40 degree celsius..
for three whole days..
the fever wouldn't subside.......
couldnt hear anything and my vision was blur...
i couldnt stand and could only ly down..
could feel that every breadth was gonna be my last..
so scary..
my scary encounter over the new year..

dear brought me to Fishermen's Wharf for lunch..
the place had a nice ambience and is located at a shophouse oppoite central..
the restaurant serves lots of fish of course and also seafood...
I like the way the food is served in a basket haha...
I must say it is not cheap unless you go for the cheapest set lunch going for S$9.60 each..
each set comes with a drink, fish with either chips or fries, tartar sauce, and a salad..
i prefer the chips cos i like soggy fries..
it's kind of like fries but it is soft and wet...
haha...
it is a good try..

sorry really very tired..
still bu xi guan to wake up at 5.30am..

the sky was pitch dark and the cold wind blows hard on my face..
my eyes were clammed shut and they refuse to open..

so today finally went there to take a look at all the cute animals..
the weather was cool and there was no sun!!
shiok arh!
so can walk leisurely..
caught the animal show (elephant one)..
man I love elephants!!
haha and I learnt that elephant's molar tooth can weigh up to 1.5kg each..
imagine one of it falling on your head!!

yesterday we celebrated our 3years anniversary and also christmas!
had lunch buffet at the pariss seafood international buffet restaurant..
quite an experience i must say..
den we watch alvin and the chipmunks!!
nice leh!!
the songs very addictive but dear find it irritating...
can go and buy the soundtrack..
but i find the ending abit abrupt...
yea... but i had a nice time watching the chipmunks dancing and singing..

after the movie.... i fell down while walking down the stairs lor..
cos of the rain, the stairs were slippery..

and my butt still hurts..
must be my retribution..

been long since we had an outing together..
so we went for lunch at pastamania and den went shop a little..
so many things to talk about and laugh about..
keep laughing hysterically..
with pq taking sharp breathes everytime lol..
but time not enuff to shop for our stuff and had to rush to awfully chocolate opening bash at vivocity..
so went to harbourfront sakae to dine..
den sl and pq ordered so many stuff..
including one ordinary miso soup with clams that cost 5bucks leh..
got 5 clams so sl had to eat one less... see lah odd number..
order so much until when got one plate haven serve we already ask for bill and zao~~
ahahahaha!!
den we kept laughing at the cashier...

i finally tendered my resignation..
so i am officially jobless by the end of the month..
dunno if i can make it thru with no source of income..

anyway, my workplace is going thru a major revamp..
so our library has to make space for the expansion of the neighbouring department.
short notice was given so had to evacuate the place in only 1 weeks time..
so this week pack until siao..
packed 230 cartons..
until i go home close my eyes also imagine myself surrounded with cartons...
so scary........
considering i tendered, i guess it's the last thing i can do for them already..
it's the grand finale before I am out of the place..

after that I can enjoy my holidays before sch starts AGAIN..
oh not to mention my worrisome results day..

been many weekends since I went out.
today went for Bee movie and dinner at Sakae.
sakae got new menu:

all red plates at $4.99 (which I suppose will be good news for Ming Hui's Hana Maki!)
but the normal coloured plates increase in price to $1.99 (original was $1.90)
Temaki got new flavour... ( I tried the "salmon & mango" and "mango & avacado")
I find the new flavours nice.
And to top it off!
It's dear's treat!!!
with 10% off for DBS/POSB card holders!!!

disgusted is how I am feeling right now.

Imagine someone told u that by buying an article for $50 you can manage to sell it for $50.
so nothing gain but I haven lost anything either..
but after buying that something,
U realise that it cant be sold for even a single cent, much less to say $50.
Wouldn't you feel so cheated?

Maybe people may think that the above analogy is too mild and there is nothing to kick up a fuss about.
But to me, it means a lot.

Cheated is how I feel now..
Been given too many false hopes and I fell from too great a height..
It is a painful landing but I am glad I am thrown back into reality.
for I noe that reality is cruel and I have to get back to it eventually.
I just feel that I have been naive all along..
May be it is really time for me to wake up from all my false hopes.

I hate it when people just want to argue their way through despite knowing they are wrong.
Like what is the problem with these people??!
Can't they just admit their mistake?
It's not like it will kill them or anything.. (tho it seems like it may kill them if they admit their mistake)
and to make it worse,
it is always other people's mistake and never theirs.

sometimes I think my life is too hard.
but then again am I the one making it hard for myself?
I wish I can just heck care everything and do whatever I am please with.
But sad to say I have too many responsibilities on my shoulder and too many expectations of others to fufill,

today had the last organic lab...
really suay until....................................................................

first of all..
all the apparatus so dirty..... like full of remains of wadever reagent..
just as i tot i was lucky to find a clean (relative to the others)...
I found that it was broken while washing it..
so I got another one den wash it..
realise that it was leaking during the separation...
ARGHHHHHHHHHH...
gotta change another one (which is laggi dirty)...
and i lost some reagent cos of the leak..

den need conical flask..
I cant find the ones that are required cos people take finish already..
nevermind...
I finally find the conical flasks and wash and bake them in the oven..
some other people kope my conical flask from the oven and i cant find them when I needed it..
ARGHHHH...

den during filtration..
my filter paper never even filter off anything..
all the activated charcoal went right thru....
had to filter another time..
happen AGAIN!!!
so had to filter again....
this time I use 4 pieces of filter paper lor...
ARGH>>>>> waste my product and time..

at the end of it all...
still kana acid burn on finger...
now got a damn blister...
and I realise I do feedback for the TA I oni do one..
cos they print 2 pages per side on the paper..
den I oni did one side (which is oni for 1 TA)...
the other TA must think someone hates her...

over lunch cum dinner today, 8 scholarly organic chemists came up with this analogy:

in a relationship (as in boy gal), it there exist a third party (let's say another gal), this other gal likes this guy even tho he is already attached.

thinking of an Sn2 reaction mechanism,

so this is like saying the gal is the nucleophile (a specie that is nucleus seeking) while the guy is the electrophile (a specie that is electron loving).

so the electrophile will attack the nucleophile, from the backside 180 degrees away (unknowing to the existing girlfriend).

the guys existing girlfriend (who is the leaving group) will have to be kicked out of the picture.

how well the leaving group leaves will depend on several factors:
(a) the situation/environment (the solvent)
(b) the character of the leaving group (more independent = better leaving group)

today i overheard someone saying that she join chemistry cos of her passion for it. but that was in freshmen year. after that passion wears off but you are stuck in it.. so sad for her.. I mean i am still very interested in chemistry. but in this society passion means nth if you dun have the grades and degrees to back up your passion.. the reality of this world is harsh and cold.. but I guess it is the way of life and I have to live with it..

i think i need to start thinking about my future.. when it is so bleak and uncertain..

I tot so when i board the bus but ming hui say must drop two stops later to switch to bus 10..

after a hectic week.. pace of life has suddenly become slower..
at least I have the time to blog u see..

today had Organic Chemistry test..
I totally have no feel for it..
take like never take...
I would say that the test was hard..
but i think is because I never put in enough effort..
so I think I must start studying now for Week 11 test...
If not again not enough time den come and regret..

anyway, my tuition career is officially over..
Shanying has finally finish her PSLE and I am relieved...
tho she say thatvery difficult..
but wad's done cannot be undone..
so just wish her all the luck that she may need..

after a day of organic lab..
i feel so high..
must be sniffing too much hexane / ethyl acetate / ether / or a mixture i dun noe...
super duper tiring and my legs are sore..
from you noe standing for 7 hours..
so many procedures to do and it seems never ending..
doesn't help with the strong fumes and stuffy air!!!
but surprisingly,
much to my amazement..
after lab go physical lecture...
got to do some complicated calculations i can get everything right!!!
(usually i cant get it right..)
WHAHAHHAHAHA!!!
so i concluded that it must be the fumes getting me high..
mayb i should get a bottle of chemical to sniff before exams LOL!!

Today got super blue blue blue monday blues!

classes were all draggy..
es2007s was okay except that the report was extremely difficult to pen down..
we had a lot of verbal ideas but none came to be really writtable because we din have our lappie and the required statistics and stuff...
lots of excuses I noe but nobody really can spare the extra energy (considering what lil we have to begin with....) to try and form sentences..
so we just chin chai wrote a few stuff and left things as it were..
